Join our New York Certified Hiking Guide for a historical hike around Bear Mountain filled with intriguing anecdotes about the rich history of the area. There is a $20 per person pre-registration required that includes lunch, a Bear Mountain Inn reusable water bottle. There is $10 Park Entry Fee.

9 am – The Historic 1777 Trail to Doodletown (Moderate Difficulty, Approximately 4 miles)
This is the route taken by British troops under Sir Henry Clinton on October 6, 1777, to attack the American forces at Fort Clinton and Fort Montgomery. Groups will stop for a lunch or snack at Doodletown Reservoir. For this hike, guests will need hiking shoes (boots are not necessary), water, and a snack or lunch.

2 pm– Bald Mountain (Strenuous Difficulty)
The hike to Bald Mountain boasts spectacular views. It follows the Cornell Mine trail to the Ramapo Dunderberg trail to the top of Bald Mountain. On the return trip, hikers will continue on the road and pick up the 1777 trail and hike through Doodletown before heading back to the Inn.
